HOB's Funkhouser earns Going Extra Mile Award

HOB is Cape Proud to nominate Mr. Bill Funkhouser, our P.E. teacher, for the GEM Award in recognition of his exceptional contributions to our school community. He has a remarkable ability to engage students in movement activities, fostering a love for physical fitness that keeps them excited and ready to learn. He consistently goes above and beyond to create an inclusive environment where every student feels valued and supported. 

As the head of our school’s Special Olympics and Bocce ball teams, Mr. Funkhouser tirelessly advocates for students with diverse abilities, providing them with opportunities to shine and compete. His enthusiasm and commitment inspire not only the athletes but also the entire school community. In addition to these initiatives, Mr. Funkhouser plays a crucial role in organizing the Polar Bear Plunge in collaboration with the Milton Fire Department. This event not only fosters school spirit but also raises awareness and funds for our local community, demonstrating his dedication to service beyond the classroom. 

Mr. Funkhouser ensures our students’ safety during transportation, overseeing a smooth bus boarding and departure process. His vigilance and attention to detail help to create a secure environment for our students. Mr. Funkhouser exemplifies what it means to be an outstanding educator. His unwavering commitment to inclusion, community engagement, and student safety makes him an invaluable asset to HOB.
